Former Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli makes an
interesting prediction about America’s
Taylor Fritz for the upcoming French
Open 2025. The second Grand Slam of the year is set to begin in less than two
weeks where players from all over the world are participating to showcase their
talent and secure the ultimate prize.
Former world number seven Bartoli has recently spoken to Grandes
Gueules du Sport on RMC where she made an interesting prediction about American
tennis star Fritz. According to the 2013 Wimbledon winner, the 2024 US Open
runner-up is the only player out of the current top-eight who is likely to miss
a spot in the quarterfinals at the Roland Garros.
"What is certain is that if we take the top eight seeds
at Roland-Garros, so in order Sinner, Alcaraz, Zverev, Fritz, Draper, Djokovic,
Ruud and Musetti, the only player who could possibly not be present in the
quarter-finals is Fritz,” she said. “The others, I don't see, given the tennis
they are currently capable of playing, how they could not be at the
quarter-finals. And I won't even mention Cerundolo, Tsitsipas, Rune, Tommy
Paul... There are still plenty of players."
Fritz is going through a decent season this year, where he
has played 24 matches and won 16 of them. His best performance this year came
while playing at the Miami Open, where he was knocked out after losing in the
semifinal to the Czech Republic’s Jakub Mensik with a score of 7-6, 4-6, 7-6.
Fritz’s most recent appearance was at the Rome Open, where he suffered a defeat
in the round of 64 to fellow American Marcos Giron with a score of 7-6, 7-6.
The San Diego-born does not have a great record while
playing at the Roland Garros. It is the only Grand Slam where he has never
managed to cement a spot in the quarterfinal or beyond. Fritz’s best outing
while playing at the
French Open came in 2024 where he was knocked out after
losing in the fourth round to Norway’s Casper Ruud with a score of 7-6, 3-6,
6-4, 6-2.
