Matteo Berrettini was forced to withdraw from
Wimbledon after testing positive for COVID and the Italian is still upset about it.
There is a good reason why Berrettini is upset about it as he was playing spectacularly leading up to Wimbledon. His only loss in over 20 matches on grass in two years is to Novak Djokovic at last year's Wimbledon and the Italian could have easily had a really deep run once again.
Speaking to reports recently, Berrettini vented about his frustration:
“It was absurd. My team tried not to look too sad, at one point I clung to the hope that I had been positive before and that I could be negative on Tuesday for the match with Garin."
It never happened and Berrettini was forced to abandon plans of playing:
“But this did not happen. At one point we said to ourselves there is something or someone who is cursing us. But I’ve always tried to look on the bright side. I tried to leave London with the memory of Queen’s and not of Wimbledon.”
