Dominic Thiem successfully turned his semifinal match in Beijing against Karen Khachanov when he was already losing 6-2 and 5-3.
It was not an ideal start for the Austrian tennis player when he lost 3 of his service games in the first set and so Khachanov won the set 6-2.
Although the beginning of the second set looked better for Thiem when he broke his opponent's serve and got into the lead of 3-2. But he lost the following 3 games and was on the edge of ending his journey in China. However, world number 5 showed his fighting spirit when he turned the second set and won it in a tie-break.
The beginning of the 3rd set was dark for Thiem again, when he lost his first service game, despite winning 40-15. But later he managed to break Khachanov's serve in the 6th game to level the score. In the 11th and 12th game Thiem won 8 out of 9 points and secured his spot in the final.
