Serbian Filip Krajinovic played the match of his life on Monday, stunning World No.3 Dominic Thiem in the second round at the Western & Southern Open.

Krajinovic, ranked World No.32, had only one Top 10 win in his career after 17 attempts. However, the Serbian came out aggressive and overpowered Thiem, taking the match 6-2 6-1 in just over an hour.
Thiem looked out of sorts the entire match, as he struggled to find his rhythm and committed a string of errors. However, credit must be given to Krajinovic who was impeccable on serve, winning 32 of 34 service points. After both men held to reach 2-2 in the first set, Krajinovic went on a seven game run that saw him easily clinch the first set. Thiem managed to avoid a second set bagel by holding at 0-3, but it was to no avail. The Serbian never lost focus, and closed out the match with a love service game.
Being the second seed, Thiem was undoubtedly a favorite to win the tournament. He will now need to re-evaluate his strategies and prepare for the upcoming US Open. Conversely, Krajinovic next faces Hungarian Marton Fucsovics, who upset 14th seed Grigor Dimitrov 7-5 4-6 6-2 in their second round encounter.
