Dominic Thiem defeated Damir Dzumhur in his first match at the Adria Tour as his opponent needed to pull out of the match due to an injury.

After Grigor Dimitrov and Dusan Lajovic showed a great battle on the courts of Belgrade, Dominic Thiem and Damir Dzumhur walked onto the court for their first match. Already after 2 played points, Dzumhur needed a medical time-out as he injured himself after his service.
After a little break, players continued again as Thiem broke Dzumhur's service game and held his to earn a quick 2-0 lead. That was the point when the Bosnian has decided to pull out of the match as he was not able to move properly. In a quick interview after the match, Thiem said:
"I'm very sorry of course for Damir. I'm very happy because of support from the fans, but I would, of course, love to play longer. "
