Jack Sock surprised the Houston crowd by taking the mic following his loss to Machac but he wanted to thank them for everything admitting it's his last time here.

Sock has good memories tied to Houston because he won his first trophy here and it's an event where he loved to play over the years. The match against Machac was not a good one as he was overpowered quite easily from the start but the crowd still backed him. Following the loss, Sock took the microphone to say some words:

"This is going to be my last time here this year, so I just wanted to thank you guys for everything."

The American's retirement has been looming for a while and it seems to coming this year. He's not as good as he was at his peak and he can't seriously challenge the best so it's likely we'll see the farewell tour of a very beloved player. He never hinted at any date or anything before but this seems to be a big one.

It's unclear where we'll see Sock play next but it's unlikely he'll be making the trip to Europe for some clay tennis. Perhaps he surprises all of us.
