New World Number Two, Jannik Sinner continued his utterly incredible form as he thrashed Grigor Dimitrov 6-3, 6-1 to seal the final of the Miami Open. A third title of the season for the Italian who has only lost once all season to a certain Carlos Alcaraz at Indian Wells.
Sinner could've lost form and solace from that loss but instead he rallied and sealed a destructive title run with only Tallon Griekspoor who took a set offering anything in terms of resolve. Dimitrov had chances at the start of both sets, but didn't take them and handed Sinner the impetus which was taken gratefully by the Italian who will now head onto the clay a winner once more.
“Hello everyone. Happy Easter. First Grigor, it’s so nice to see you playing this kind of level again. You’ve been working really hard. We practice sometimes together in Monaco. It’s such a pleasure not only to play with you, but to speak with you, and try to learn from you. Thank you so much. You have an incredible team behind you that put a lot of work behind this result. Congrats to you guys," said Sinner.
“My team, thank you so much for working day in and day out. We put a lot of work in. We try to learn. This result is a huge pleasure to share with you. Not only all the people watching from home, my family, the people close to me, but also the people who are getting to know me a bit more. It’s so nice… this is one of the best tournaments. I’m so grateful. This is such a special place… last thing, the atmosphere has been amazing throughout the whole ten days. This is one of the most special events for me. I made the final four years ago. It’s good to be back here. Hope to see you guys again.”
