America’s young tennis star
Ben Shelton has stated that he
is ready for a ‘physical war’ when he will face Italy’s
Jannik Sinner.
Both players have been regarded among the most
highly-rated players currently playing in men’s tennis. The two will face off in
the round-of-16 tie of the contest on Tuesday.
Shelton was recently quoted in a report where he stated that
he is expecting tough competition against the current world number four.
“I think it’s one of those matches where you know it’s going
to be a physical war,” he said. “You know how physical he is, the way he
plays.. How aggressive he is. It’s just one of those matches that you know
you’re gonna have to play aggressive, take your chances, & be confident out
on the court. I have 2 matches under my belt against him.
“Both on hard courts last year. I’m really looking forward
to it. The way he’s been playing lately.. I’m sure it’s gonna be an amazing
crowd out here. Those are the type of matches I live for.”
Shelton defeated
Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo in the round of 32 clash with a score of 7-6,
3-6, 7-6. On the other hand, Sinner ended up defeating Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff in the third round in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-4.
