American tennis star
Frances Tiafoe has announced his withdrawal from the ongoing
Monte-Carlo Masters. following his exhausting title run in Houston this past weekend.
The 25-year-old played four matches in two days, culminating with him defeating Tomas Etcheverry in a late final on Sunday night. The tournament suffered from several delays due to inclement weather, leading to some players having to compete in two matches in one day.
Nonetheless, Tiafoe was the last man standing, persevering to lift the trophy. However, the Maryland native chose to skip the Monte-Carlo Masters, understandable considering how much tennis he'd played over the last two days.
Tiafoe's title run in Houston saw him climb to World No.11, leaving him just 195 points shy of compatriot Taylor Fritz, who currently sits in 10th place.
