The 20-year-old Felix Auger-Aliassime added the famous Rafael Nadal's coach and uncle Toni Nadal to his staff ahead of the clay swing, traveling with Toni to Monte Carlo.
The young Canadian has dropped out from the top-20 following a tight Miami loss to John Isner in Miami, hoping for a better run on clay this spring and seeking the first ATP title after dropping the first seven finals!
Felix worked with Toni last December at Rafael Nadal Academy in Manacor, learning a lot from one of the most successful coaches in the game's history and deciding to train with him in Monte Carlo, Madrid Roland Garros.
Toni trained Rafa until 2017, when he decided to quit traveling and base his work on Nadal's Academy and the grass-court event in Mallorca. Now, the experienced coach will spend a couple of weeks with Felix this spring, trying to improve his game and send it to a higher level.
Auger-Aliassime revealed the news on Thursday, sharing a picture with Toni from Monte Carlo ahead of their practice sessions. The American Frances Tiafoe joked with his friend in the comments, saying Felix will win 100 Roland Garros titles under Toni's guidance.
