'I wish to see Roger Federer playing until he is 50,' said Marco Cecchinato

Marco Cecchinato made a name for himself at Roland Garros 2018, stunning Novak Djokovic and reaching his first and only Major semi-final, never repeating that level.

Cecchinato suffered another early loss in Cagliari this week, having a chance to speak about his career and opponents. Mentioning Roger Federer, the Italian said that he would love to see the legend playing until he is 50, praising Federer on and off the court and calling him the personification of tennis.

Marco understands that Roger will have to work hard if he wants to come back from an extended injury and two surgeries. Still, he has no doubts about Roger's abilities, saying he can dominate alongside Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal for a few more years.

"I hope, first of all, that Roger can play until he is 50! On the circuit, he is an extraordinary and stimulating presence. Roger is an athlete who is pleasant to meet on the fields, in the locker room, in the lounge area. Federer is one of us, even if he is tennis. It will not be easy for him to return after a long period of absence. And the same can be said for Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, who have played little in this pandemic period.

But considering that we are talking about the champions who have made tennis great, I would not be surprised if their domination continues for a long time," Marco Cecchinato said.
