Following his impressive run at the Olympics and Cincinnati, it comes as no surprise that many view
Alexander Zverev as a pick to win this year's
US Open.
Echoing this though is former World No.4 Tim Henman, who acknowledges that although
Novak Djokovic is still the clear favorite, Zverev is not far behind the World No.1
“There is no doubt that Djokovic is the favorite going into New York, but Zverev, Medvedev, Tsitsipas and Rublev are not just knocking on the door, they are banging on it now,” said Henman.
The retired British pro added that Zverev has been particularly impressive over the last week, praising the German's efforts in Cincinnati.
“Zverev’s performance in the semi-final and final at the Cincinnati Masters were fantastic for different reasons,” added Henman. “To come back from a double break down in the decider and break Tsitsipas was a fantastic effort and then to come back and play the most incredible match against Rublev in the final.
“Up 6-2, 5-2, he had made one unforced error from the back of the court in the whole match and was serving huge. It was very impressive."
