Nick Kyrgios has not played an event since the Australian Open in February and he is excited to return to tennis ahead of the grass season.
The last time Nick Kyrgios played a match was at the Australian Open and he will make his return to tennis at the Mallorca Championships which will start on on June 20th. The Australian has decided to take extended resting time after the Australian Open but he is excited to return.
He said:
"I am super excited to get back there. I am travelling with my best friend and girlfriend. I think now is my time to play. I’ve had time to rest, regroup and see my family so now it is time to do what I do best.”
Kyrgios whose extended break was criticized in the wider tennis media was called the Rodman of tennis by Greek basketball player Giannis Antetokounmpo. When asked about that Kyrgios said:
"When I first think of Rodman, I think of someone that is completely comfortable in his own skin, who played the game he wanted and didn’t really care what others thought. That is how I feel I go about my tennis career, I don’t really care what others think and I play the way I want to play."
After the Mallorca Championships, Kyrgios will play at the Queens Club as well as Wimbledon.
