Tomas Machac won his first ATP title at the Mexican Open 2025 by defeating Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 7-6(6), 6-2. The Spaniard suffered against the Czech's serve and could not take advantage of his chance.

Alejandro Davidovich and Tomas Machac played a great match in Mexico. Both players took advantage of an open draw and earned a place in the final, which had an extremely even development from the beginning.

First Set

Both the Spaniard and the Czech were at a high level with their serve. Davidovich won 73% of the points played with his first serve, while Machac was literally unbeatable, with a perfect 100% of points won with his first serve.

Despite this small difference, Davidovich did not have to suffer the pressure at any time, securing his service games until 5-6. Even so, he did not give any chance to his rival, despite having reached the deuce three times.

With things so evenly matched, only the tiebreak was going to be able to untie them. Machac's solidity on serve would be vital in the tiebreak, where they would not take advantage of each other until the end. Davidovich had a set point at 6-5, but could not take his chance. The Czech would be the winner, taking the tie break 8-6.

Second Set

The beginning of the second set saw the most erratic version of Machac. Davidovich managed to put pressure on the Czech's serve. Unfortunately he could not convert the only break chance he had in the set, and by the sixth game the Czech resumed the danger he had shown. With two consecutive breaks, the number 25 of the world ranking took 5-2 and closed the match.
