Second seed Cameron Norrie withdrew before his clash with Jenson Brooksby with Casper Ruud shockingly losing to Nishioka 2-6 6-3 2-6.
A couple of interesting things unfolded overnight in Korea with the top seed and the second seed bout out of the event. The first edition of this ATP event is certainly proving an exciting affair as Cameron Norrie withdrew before his clash against Jenson Brooksby.
Top seed Casper Ruud did step out onto the courts but he lost to Yoshihito Nishioka who produced a stunning effort to take down the Norwegian in three sets. Ruud did not play a very good match here and it's unfortunate for him because he'll drop down in the rankings because of it.
For the first time since 2000, two players from the same country will be number one and number two. They are Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal from Spain. The last time that happened was in 2000 when Agassi and Sampras were number one and two.

Incredible win for Yoshi Nishioka over Casper Ruud 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 to reach the SFs in Seoul, which means that Rafael Nadal will rise to #2. For the first time since 2000 (Agassi and Sampras), the ATP top 2 is composed by players from the same country.
