Leading tennis players have picked Serbia’s
Novak Djokovic
as the one to finish the season on a high in New York.
The last Grand Slam of the year is set to begin in less than
a month’s time where players from over the world will take part to showcase their
talent and lift the title.
Ahead of the mega-event, the likes of Russia’s Daniil
Medvedev, Australia’s
Nick Kyrgios, Italy’s Jannik Sinner and
Andrey Rublev of
Russia made some bold predictions for the mega-event and all agreed that it is
very hard to look beyond the likes of Djokovic.
"I hope it could be me, but if not, you always have to
say Novak just because he's amazing," Medvedev said. "Octopus. Mr.
Octopus," said Rublev.
"It's tough to not pick Novak. I think also Carlos
(Alcaraz) and Holger (Rune), Sinner," said Sinner.
"I think (Stefanos) Tsitsipas has got a good chance to
do well in the hard court season," said Kyrgios.
Djokovic does have an impressive record while playing at the
mega-event where he ended up winning three times.
However, his most recent triumph in the tournament came five
years back in 2018 when he defeated Argentina’s Juan Martín del Potro with a score of 6–3, 7–6(7–4), 6–3.
