Stefanos Tsitsipas scored another win over Grigor Dimitrov on Spanish clay as he took down the Bulgarian 6-3 6-4 in Madrid.
They played recently in Barcelona with Stefanos winning in two sets. Now, sometime later, in Madrid, Tsitsipas once again proved better in two sets. Both players opened the match well and served well. Neither had any issues winning their service games and that did not change for Tsitsipas. It did change for Dimitrov in one game as he lost his serve which was enough for the Greek.
The first set ended with 6-3 and Tsitsipas was one set away from the match. Dimitrov played a pretty decent set considering he could not hit his first serve at all. He improved on that in the 2nd set but Tsitsipas was able to create more chances for himself on the Bulgarian's 2nd serve. He used that for an early break in the 2nd set as Dimitrov struggled to win his service games.
He had to save break points a couple of times early in the 2nd set and that improved a little bit towards the end. It didn't matter much as Tsitsipas held on to the one break he had and finished it off with 6-4. A good win for Tsitsipas after a disappointing conclusion to his Barcelona Open campaign.
