Stefanos Tsitsipas and Felix Auger-Aliassime will be playing in the final at the 2020 Open 13 Provence in Marseille.
The second-seeded Greek opened the day in Marseille against
Alexander Bublik who made controversial statements recently.
World number 6 got a break already in the 6th game to secure an early lead in the first set. However, when the Greek was serving for the match, Bublik managed to get a break back to force more games.
But that was not enough for Bublik to reach the tie-break of the first set. Tsitsipas got another break in the 12th game to win the first set 7-5. Both players kept a high-level of the service when Bublik hit a total of 8 aces and Stefanos 6. We did not see any double faults in the match and we also did not see the third set. The Greek did not allow that when he broke Bublik's service in the 2nd set and won it 6-3.
In the second semifinal match,
Gilles Simon who defeated Daniil Medvedev met youngster Felix Auger-Aliassime. The Canadian is having stunning weeks when
he played the final in Rotterdam one week ago. On the other hand, Simon seemed to be unstoppable on his home soil and so there was another interesting matchup for the crowd at
Open 13 Provence.
Simon was close to taking the first set when he was winning already 5-2. However, Auger-Aliassime managed to win the following 5 games to win the first set 7-5. In the second set, we did not see any breakpoints and so the set reached the tie-break. There, it was the Canadian who converted his first match point to secure a spot in the second final in two weeks.
