Stefanos Tsitsipas continued his good run on clay with a strong victory against
Dusan Lajovic to reach the
Hamburg European Open semifinal.
Stefanos Tsitsipas started off his clay season with mixed results but his form has been improving as he plays more on the surface. His performance against Lajovic in the quarterfinals today was a strong one, especially in the 2nd set. It started off good for both of them as they looked very good early on winning games with ease. Both players had chances to break each other but neither conveyed them although Lajovic was closer.
Ultimately we ended up in a tiebreak where Lajovic looked better early on even taking a 5-3 lead. It was then that the Greek turned it on winning 4 points in a row to secure the 1st set 7-6(5). The 2nd was much easier for the Greek who won with 6-2. Despite the convincing result, it didn't all go smoothly as he lost his own serve in the set. Luckily for him, Lajovic could not win his at all surrendering it three times en route to an easy defeat.
