In another dominant performance by the Greek star,
Stefanos Tsitsipas improved to 8-0 against
Alex De Minaur as he cruised through their third round encounter at the
Miami Open on Monday night.
The third seed saved all three break points faced in his 6-4 6-3 victory, cementing his stranglehold on their one-sided rivalry. Tsitsipas dictated play with his powerful forehand and was particularly effective on serve. The World No.5 hit eight aces, while winning 82% of points on his first serve.
Despite De Minaur's best efforts, the Australian was unable to match the firepower coming from his higher-ranked opponent. The 25th seed's speed could only do so much, as Tsitsipas controlled rallies before ending the point with his signature forehand down the line. It took an hour and 30 minutes, but the 23-year old eventually sealed his victory to advance to the round of 16.
Tsitsipas will face fan favorite
Carlos Alcaraz in the fourth round, as the Spaniard powered past Marin Cilic earlier in the day.
