Following his opening round win over
Grigor Dimitrov at the Erste Bank Open Vienna tournament,
Stefanos Tsitsipas has set a new career record for wins in a season on the ATP Tour.
The Greek star secured a 7-6(6) 6-4 victory over the Bulgarian, booking his spot in the next round. However, this win also gave Tsitsipas his 55st win of the season, a career-best ever since he began competing on the ATP Tour.
The top seed entered Vienna with a 54-16 match record in 2021, having compiled a 54-25 win-loss record in 2019, his best till date. The 23-year old now leads the ATP Tour in matches won this year, with Daniil Medvedev and Casper Ruud tied at second place with 50 wins each.
