Stefanos Tsitsipas and John Isner set to face each other in the quarterfinals at the China Open after they both successfully won their 2nd round matches.

The tall American was the first one to step on the court on Thursday. He played qualifier Dan Evans, to who he lost this year already, in the 2nd round. Since it was not the first meeting of these two, Isner knew what he can improve from their last meeting in Delray Beach.
Isner served almost flawlessly during the whole match when he scored 21 aces and won 84% of the points after his first serve. He also added 100% of saved break points that cumulated into a two-set victory in an hour and 53 minutes 7-6 and 7-5.
Later on, he was joined by a NextGen star Stefanos Tsitsipas. World number seven faced Nikoloz Basilashvili, who he defeated at the Australian Open this year.
Tsitsipas did not enter the match ideally, losing already his second serve. Eventually, he lost the first set 4-6 and needed to turn the match. He managed to do so when he won up to 87% of the points after his first serve in the second set. Tsitsipas advanced after 2 hours and 10 minutes 4-6, 6-3 and 6-2. In the quarterfinals, he will meet John Isner.
