World No.4 Stefanos Tsitsipas underwent elbow surgery on Thursday in Switzerland, but he is confident he will be ready to compete at the Australian Open in January.
Tsitsipas had been struggling with elbow issues over the past few months, and eventually contacted the same doctor who had fixed the elbow issues of World No.1 Novak Djokovic.
Fortunately for the Greek star, the procedure was not complicated and Tsitsipas seems confident he would return in time for the first Grand Slam of the season in Melbourne next year.
“Things often get tougher before they get easier but with each struggle we get an opportunity to create our own unique story," said Tsitsipas in a statement on Facebook.
"Some days life is all about your dreams, hopes and visions for the future. There are also days where life is just about putting one foot in front of the other and that’s okay too. To all the fans, thank you for your continuous support and encouragement.
“Focused on a healthier and happier future. Next stop, pre-season in Dubai two weeks from now and then looking forward to Australia.”
