US Senator Rand Paul unhappy that Djokovic will likely miss US Open due to vaccine stance

United States senator Rand Paul isn't impressed with the fact that Novak Djokovic will likely miss out on the US Open because of his vaccination status.
Djokovic, 35, hasn't been vaccinated against COVID-19 and the current US vaccine laws are a problem for the Serb. Recently, the United States relaxed some of their COVID-19 measures but individuals still have to show the proof of vaccination upon entering the country.
Since Djokovic hasn't been vaccinated and he has made it perfectly clear that he does not plan on getting the vaccine, the US Open could go on without the former World No.1.
"Hooray for heroic stances for medical freedom by Wimbledon champ Novak Djokovic. Boo for unscientific policy of banning visitors to the US who already have natural immunity," Paul tweeted.
The US Open starts in a month and a half and Djokovic doesn't seem to be too optimistic that he will be allowed to compete at Flushing Meadows. However, the Serbian is keeping hope for a change when it comes to Australia and that he will be allowed to compete at Melbourne Park in January.
"At the moment, I can't go to the United States. I'm hoping for positive news, but there's not a lot of time," admitted the 21-time Grand Slam champion. "I'd like to play the US Open but if it doesn't happen, it's not the end of the world, nor the first Grand Slam I have to withdraw from.
"It's important for me to stay healthy, physically and mentally, so I can still play for a long time and the chances to do so will certainly come."
