Spain’s young tennis star
Carlos Alcaraz’s new video on social media showcased his fan hood of legendary
Rafael Nadal.
The 20-year-old is regarded as one of the most highly-rated
young tennis players currently playing in the men’s singles category in the
circuit alongside Italy’s Jannik Sinner and America’s Ben Shelton.
In a video that appeared on social media platform X — previously
known as Twitter— a 13-year-old Alcaraz can be seen expressing his admiration
for Nadal for his hard work and sacrifices. "I want to be top 10 in the
world. I want to be like Rafa Nadal because he trains very hard, sacrifices
himself & puts in a lot of effort,” he said back then.
Nadal is often regarded as one of the greatest players in the
history of men’s singles tennis in the Open era, having won as many as 22
Grand Slam titles. He is by far the most successful Spanish player in men’s
tennis in the Open era.
Alcaraz had a more than decent year at the highest level
where he clinched his second Grand Slam title after beating Serbia’s legendary
tennis star and the current world number one Novak Djokovic in a five-set
thrilling final at Wimbledon with a score of 1–6, 7–6(8–6), 6–1, 3–6, 6–4.
