Alexander Bublik and
Corentin Moutet were involved in a
heated exchange on the court during an ATP Challengers event. Both players met
in the quarterfinal of the ATP Challengers event in Phoenix, where the
27-year-old came out on top with a score of 2-6, 7-6, 7-5.
After the match, both players had a heated exchange at the time
of the handshake. The chair umpire had to intervene to separate both players.
The incident can be seen in a video available on the social media platform X — previously
known as Twitter. Bublik produced eight aces in the match, five more than his opponent.
He won 61 per cent service points as well.
Bublik is now set to face Portugal’s Nuno Borges in the
last-four of the event on Saturday. The 28-year-old defeated America’s Colton
Smith in the quarterfinal of the competition in straight sets with a score of
6-4, 6-4. Borges had a clear advantage on his first serve, where he won 81 per cent points, considerably higher than his opponent, who managed to win just 56 per cent points on his first serve. He converted four break points as well.
This will be the second meeting between the two players in
professional tennis. In the only meeting earlier, which was in the round of 64
of the ATP 1000 event in Rome last year, it was Borges who came out on top in
straight sets with a score of 6-4, 6-4.
