Carlos Alcaraz advanced to the semifinals of the tournament thanks to an important victory against number 26, Francisco Cerúndolo. The former number 1, who praised his next opponent for the level he has been showing, is getting closer and closer to a three-time championship.
Alcaraz won his sixteenth consecutive victory in Indian Wells after defeating Argentine Francisco Cerúndolo in the quarterfinals. The player from Murcia had the most complicated match so far, with a Cerúndolo that could make him uncomfortable in some parts of the match.
Carlitos has not yet lost a set on his way to the triple crown, but he will have to face a Jack Draper who is on the rise and could be a threat. The number 14 will play his first ATP 1000 semifinals.
The No. 3 player spoke to the presenter at the end of his match against Cerúndolo and described what it means to play against the British No. 1:
"He’s really dangerous. His level is really high. He’s one of the toughest players right now on tour. He has a good rhythm from the baseline. He has great shots" said the former No. 1.
"I have to be ready for that and focused. I’ll try to play my tennis. Let’s see if the weather is gonna be a bit better. I’m just excited to face him because the last time he had to retire with an injury. So just excited about getting another match against him."
