Former world
number one
Andy Murray’s career recently ended as he lost in the doubles event
at the Paris Olympics. The 37-year-old is often regarded as the greatest
British player in the history of men’s tennis in the Open era in the singles
category.
Despite his
on-court achievements, Murray’s off-the court activities and behaviour has what
made him a darling of the crowd all over the world. The LTA page on social
media platform Facebook shared a video of his some best off-the court moments. The
video is nearly 6 minutes long and fans absolutely loved it.
Murray’s career
has been immensely affected by injuries. It was because of this reason, retired
from the sport just after the Australian Open in 2018. However, he miraculously
returned to the court soon after and continued to play at the highest level for
a long time. This year, Murray announced his desire to finally hang up the racquet
after playing Wimbledon on home soil and representing his country at the Paris Olympics.
While both of his wishes came true, it can be easily said that it was just
partially completed.
Just before
the Wimbledon 2024, Murray took part in the ATP Queen’s Championship to prepare
for the upcoming mega-event. However, he suffered a back injury which forced him
to not only withdraw from the competition but he also had to undergo a back
injury. It was because of this reason he was forced to withdraw from the
singles category at Wimbledon and only ended up taking part in the doubles
category where he and his brother Jamie were knocked out in the first round.
Murray initially wanted to play in the doubles category as well but his partner
Emma Raducanu withdrew from the event at the last moment because of a wrist
injury. At the Paris Olympics, Murray played only in the doubles category as he
and his partner Dan Evans were knocked out after losing in the quarterfinal.
