Italy’s tennis
star
Jannik Sinner and Britain’s
Jack Draper have made a winning start in the
doubles category in the
Canadian Open. The competition officially started on Tuesday, and players from all over the world are participating to secure the ultimate glory. In the doubles category, an interesting pair of Sinner and Draper booked their
place in the second round after beating the pair of Sander Gille and Joran
Vliegen in straight sets with a score of 6-0, 6-7, 10-8.
The performance
can be considered impressive as this is the first time both players have played together. They are now set to face the pair of America’s Ben Shelton
and Alexander Bublik in the round of 16. They got the pair of Finland’s Harri
Heliovaara and Henry Patten of Britain after they were forced to withdraw from
the round of 32 tie.
Interestingly,
all four players are also playing in the singles category. Sinner, the world number one in men’s tennis singles, will start his singles event on Thursday. The 21-year-old, who is already regarded as one of the best players currently playing in men’s tennis singles, is
playing his first event after missing the Paris Olympics because of illness.
On the other hand, Draper will play Australia’s Jordan Thompson in the round of 64 clash
on Wednesday. It will be the first meeting between the two in professional
tennis. On the other hand, America’s Shelton will face his doubles partner Bublik
in the round of 64 clash on Wednesday. It will be the third meeting between the
two in professional tennis. In the previous two meetings, it was Bublik who
came out on top. Their most recent meeting came during the third round of the
Madrid Open earlier this year where the 27-year-old ended up winning the
contest with a score of 3-6 7-6(2) 6-4
