Following his retirement at the 2024
Olympic Games, former World No.1
Andy Murray has been honored with tributes from all over the world. One of the more bizarre recollections of the British tennis star is when he was pranked on a BBC gameshow in 2018.
The 37-year old called it a career at the Paris Olympics, after almost two decades on the ATP Tour. Murray reached the pinnacle of the sport, winning three Grand Slam singles titles, two singles Olympic gold medals and attaining the World No.1 position in a period dominated by the likes of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic.
Murray's sense of humor endeared him to many
The Glasgow native teamed with compatriot Dan Evans in the men's doubles event at the Olympic games, where the duo fought hard to reach the quarterfinals. However, the story came to an end as they were defeated by the American pairing of Taylor Fritz and Dan Evans.
Although Murray maintained a serious facade on court, he was known as one of the funniest players on tour. His dry wit and sense of humor was on full display during his off-court interviews and appearances. It comes as no surprise that Michael McIntyre, host of BBC's Midnight Gameshow opted to prank the former British No.1 in an elaborate scheme involving former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell. Watch the hijinks unfold below.
