Dane Sweeny and Calum Puttergill were tasked with facing Lleyton and
Cruz Hewitt in the second round of a Sydney Challenger last week when the eyes of the world were suddenly on this combo.
They have a YouTube channel called
Life on Tour which sees them vlog what it's like to be tennis stars including how to balance playing at the lower level and not having the financial safety net others do.
After
Lleyton Hewitt and Cruz Hewitt won their first matches of the tournament, they were tasked with facing this next duo and it was safe to say both were very much both ecstatic and nervous given the idolisation many Aussies have towards Hewitt. The result a great look behind the scenes at the return of an Aussie great.
"Just watched the Hewitts win one-love. It was pretty scary form for one tour—the sort of form Lleyton was going to be in. But he was unreal. He's so many Australians’ idols—Australian tennis players' idols—but he's definitely probably my biggest idol in tennis," said Puttergill prior to their match.
"I'm going to be pinching myself—hopefully not too tight. I'm going to get to play him with Dano (Sweeny). People think Dano’s Hewitt’s son, not Cruz. Battle of the father-son combo."
"He's probably my biggest tennis idol ever. Posters on the walls growing up.Yeah, it's a weird feeling, but it's such an epic feeling."
