Two players wanting form this week at the Monte-Carlo Masters are the defending champion and top seed in Andrey Rublev and Novak Djokovic. Both have had fairly lacklustre starts to 2024 for different reasons.
They met up though as was filmed by the ATP Tour and Djokovic was left in stitches while bantering with the Russian atop the picturesque settings of the Monegasque tournament.
Djokovic lost to Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals of the Australian Open and went on to be defeated by Luca Nardi at Indian Wells. He parted company with coach, Goran Ivanisevic as a result albeit little may be expected this week at a tournament he is known not to enjoy as much as others on the surface.
Rublev will defend his title albeit he has not been in great form since his infamous meltdown at the line judge in Dubai which he admitted this weekend may have played a factor in his recent lack of wins. But at least in this case, it was all smiles as Djokovic responded what they are saying on social media.
"He [Andrey Rublev] is opening the base chakra 😂 he says .. or maybe it’s already open.. Who knows 🤷‍♂️ ," he commented. Base Chakra is the first of the seven main chakras which are energy points in a human body and focuses on an individual's connection to the earth, nature and primal needs.
