Novak Djokovic is known for his sportsmanship and at the Rome Masters, he showed it once more overturning an umpire call benefiting him.
Sportmanship is something that is always nice to see and with Djokovic it's something he always tries to honour. In the semifinal of the Rome Masters Djokovic overturned a call benefiting him. It was the 2nd set tiebreak and the score was 4-4. Sonego was serving and it was a crucial point in the match when a line umpire called a ball out after a Sonego forehand.
Djokovic immediately went over and confirmed that the ball was good with match umpire Mohamed Lahyani confirming it was good. It was a great show of sportsmanship from Djokovic who greatly benefitted from the ball being called out. Djokovic would have gotten the 5-4 lead and two serves which could have ended it in two.
Instead, the point was replayed and Sonego was able to win that point and ultimately winning the 2nd set tiebreak 7-5. In the end, Djokovic did win the match by winning the 3rd set with 6-2 but the gesture of Djokovic is one to remember. Especially with something like that becoming rarer by the day in the world of sports.
The Rome crowd applauded Djokovic for the move with Sonego also appreciating it. Check out the full situation below:
