Novak Djokovic's father celebrated his son's gold medal win at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with great enthusiasm. The Serbian tennis player defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the final (7-6, 7-6) and finally achieved the dream of a gold medal, completing the Career Golden Slam at 37 years old.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion had failed in his four previous Olympic Games participations, with his best result being a bronze medal in Beijing 2008.
In the midst of a challenging season for 'Nole', where he hadn’t secured any titles, there were uncertainties about what Djokovic could achieve in Paris. In fact, in all his previous Olympic Games participations, Djokovic had already won at least one Grand Slam title in the same year, whereas this season he had suffered some unexpected defeats and was troubled by injuries.
After withdrawing in the quarterfinals of Roland Garros, he underwent knee surgery which cast doubt on his participation in Wimbledon and even in the Olympics. However, the Serbian managed to recover, reached the final at the All England Club, but lost to an inspired Alcaraz, who was once again the favorite to win in Paris.Novak
Djokovic once again demonstrated why he is the most successful tennis player in history by securing the only title that had eluded him. His reaction was one of the most effusive of his career, and he highlighted that it was one of the most significant victories he has had. The Serbian celebrated with his wife and children at Phillipe Chatrier and was later seen dancing with other athletes from Team Serbia in the Olympic Village.
Srdan Djokovic, the father of the 24-time Grand Slam champion, was not in Paris to see his son win the gold medal but celebrated from his hometown in Belgrade. Srdan enjoyed himself with trumpeters playing 'Kalashnikov', a traditional song by Serbian Goran Bregovic. In a video shared on social media, Novak's father can be seen celebrating animatedly with the orchestra.
