Poland’s tennis star
Hubert Hurkacz suffered a serious blow
to his private part during the
Laver Cup 2023 doubles tie.
The tournament is underway in Vancouver, Canada where Team
Europe is taking on the Team World.
During the first set of the doubles encounter, Hurkacz
suffered a blow to his private part when America’s Ben Shelton returned the shot
of France’s Gal Monfils.
The 26-year-old ended up falling to the ground following
that incident and was helped by his partner to get up to resume the match.
It was the pair of Shelton and Canada’s Felix Auger Aliassime
who came out on top in straight sets with a score of 7-5, 6-4.
That result paved the way for Team World to win the
Laver Cup once again. The title was eventually sealed after Shelton and America’s
Frances Tiafoe managed to beat Russia’s Andrey Rublev and Hurkacz in straight
sets with a score of 7-6, 7-6.
The victory was a special one as it was the second time when
the Team World emerged victorious in the competition.
In the first four editions, it was Team Europe who came out
on top on every occasion, and that too in a comprehensive manner.
