Jannik Sinner is already back in training for the 2026 season, and this Thursday, a video of the World No. 2 training from Dubai appeared on social media. The Italian is preparing for the challenges of the Australian Swing at the Mouratoglou Tennis Center in the United Arab Emirates.
The four-time major champion will have a difficult task at the start of the season, as he is defending the Australian Open title—won in both 2024 and 2025.The Italian lost the World No. 1 ranking in the final weeks of the season and lost his chance to finish the year at the top during the ATP Finals, following a great campaign by Carlos Alcaraz who reached the final.
At the start of the season, Sinner currently only has the Australian Open scheduled, meaning he will not have the opportunity to recover the top spot in the ranking during January—even if he defends the title. However, three months will follow where he has no points to defend—due to a three-month suspension this year—which will be the ideal time to add points and close the gap on Alcaraz.
The Italian missed three months of activity this year, between February 9 and May 4, due to a suspension for failing two doping tests in March 2024. Despite this, he achieved six titles (Australian Open, Wimbledon, Beijing, Vienna, Paris Masters 1000, and the ATP Finals) and reached four other finals (Rome Masters 1000, Roland Garros, Cincinnati, and the US Open) in a limited schedule of 12 tournaments (a record of 58-6).

Intense training in Dubai

In the video shared on social media, Sinner is seen hitting from the baseline alongside his sparring partner, who was volleying again and again at the net. Sinner took barely two weeks of vacation after his last tournament, the ATP Finals, where he defended the title undefeated after defeating Alcaraz in the final.
Sinner chose Dubai as the location for his vacation, pre-season, and celebrations before starting the activity of the new season. During his time in the United Arab Emirates, he took advantage of the previous days to meet with Flavio Briatore (Team Principal of the Alpine team) and Fernando Alonso (Spanish driver for the Aston Martin team). It would not be surprising if the Italian, a recognized F1 fanatic, appears next week at the event in Abu Dhabi, where the 2025 champion will be defined.
