Luca Nardi suffered a horrific fall at the Tiriac Open in Bucharest injuring his ankle during his opener against
Thiago Seyboth Wild after initially fighting back in the tie.
Nardi who conquered Novak Djokovic at Indian Wells lost the first set 6-3, but fought his way back taking the second set 7-6(5). He went 4-2 up in the decider, but disaster struck as at 5-3 he had match point opportunities. He then lost his footing causing him to fall on the ground and writhe in agony. The umpire quickly rushed over, but Seyboth Wild fetched one of the chairs instead as he showed more logic in the situation.
The moment was appreciated by the fans inside the
Tiriac Open Bucharest. But perhaps was done by Seyboth Wild in order to get the match completed as he sealed the win from there to move on. The injury hampering his movement enough for the Brazilian to seal the win.
