Andrey Rublev asked the umpire to warn fans who were targetting with him bad words explaiinig that the Ukranian flag doesn't bother him.
Rublev was spotted chatting to the umpire as fans heckled him during his match at the
Australian Open. A Ukrainian flag was put on the stands but Rublev was not bothered by that. His complaint was with some of the language used which he told the umpire. In the press conference after the match, Rublev confirmed that:
“It was not about the flag. I said straightaway to the referee, it’s not about the flag, they can put any flag they want, I understand completely the situation. It was more that they started to tell me bad words and bad things. I said to the referee: ‘It’s not about the flag, but please can you tell them at least to not say bad words when I’m on the changeover’.”
