America’s young tennis star
Ben Shelton has continued his preparation
ahead of the 2024 season. The 21-year-old is regarded as one of the brightest
young talents currently playing in the men’s singles category in the circuit alongside
Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz and Italy’s Jannik Sinner.
In a video posted on social media platform X — previously known
as Twitter — Shelton can be seen practising hard in the Brisbane stadium,
something that would definitely excite his fans.
The 21-year-old had a more than decent time on the court in
2023 where he managed to play in the semifinal and the quarterfinal of the Grand
Slams. Shelton played in the last-eight of the Australian Open where he lost to
fellow American Tommy Paul with a score of 7-6, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4.
The current world number 17 later played in the semifinal of
the US Open where he lost to the current world number one Serbia’s Novak
Djokovic in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-2, 7-6.
Other than that, Shelton also won an ATP title in Tokyo,
Japan where he defeated Russia’s Aslan Karatsev in straight sets with a score
of 7-5, 6-1.
