Novak Djokovic believes that Spain’s
legendary tennis star
Rafael Nadal will not return to the sport ‘on a medium
level’.
The 37-year-old is still recovering from a knee injury sustained
earlier this year. It was because of this season he ended up missing three out
of four Grand Slams in 2024.
Djokovic, who is often regarded as the greatest player in
the history of tennis in the men’s singles category, having won as many as 24
Grand Slam titles in his career, was recently quoted in a report where he stated
that he expects Nadal to return to the sport in order to win big tournaments.
“I always expect him to play at his best, to be honest,” he said.
“Many times, they’ve signed him out, they’ve done that with me as well. But
we’ve proved them wrong. He’s not a kind of a player that will come back to the
tour just to play — let’s say — on a medium level, play a few matches.
“He wants to win titles, he wants to be the best, that’s why
he is who he is: a legend of our sport. I’m sure that his training and
preparation is done with an intention to win a Grand Slam.”
