Iga Swiatek will return to action over the next week at the 2024 United Cup for Poland as she looks to begin her season as well as the 2023 season ended with victory in the WTA Finals and returning to World No.1.
But there are a few aspects of her game that the legendary Martina Navratilova believes she could improve going into the new season. Mainly including going to the net more often in her play.
She also continued that she should also go towards using a drop shot instead of keeping with her usual repertoire and that it would earn her more points in the process.
This may be something that Swiatek is already analysing given her reputation with her team of being a tactician and analysing where better to improve her game with her laser sharp focus. But will these changes be implemented from Navratilova? Time will tell if she uses a drop shot at the United Cup.
"I think she has to get closer to the net and work a lot on her volée," said Navratilova to WTA Tennis.
"She should also try to increase the speed of the service and, I think, she should also insert the drop shot in her repertoire, because many rivals play behind her, because of her shots in Topspin. Therefore, making more drop shots would have earned her many points."
