Stan Wawrinka is among the wildcard awarded for the 2023
Monte-Carlo Masters which will run from the 9th to the 16th of April in Southern France.
Wawrinka has played in Monte Carlo for years and he's a former champion having won that event in 2014 denying Federer a trophy. The legendary Swiss player contested a few finals against Nadal prior to that one losing all of them and he lost this one too. It was the only time Wawrinka stood in the final and it was during his golden years on Tour when he was even a grand slam champion.
The former winner is among the wild card recipients for this year making his 12th appearance at the event this year. Along with Wawrinka, the event announced a few more wild cards with former champion Fabio Fognini getting a wild card into the event as well.
Jack Draper is another wild card in the event as is native player
Valentin Vacherot.
