Portuguese tennis star,
Joao Sousa showed that among all the accolades that sportsman can receive comes the horrific abuse as he was subjected recently to a barrage of threats, insults and abuse after losing early at a Girona Challenger.
He lost in the second round to Mariano Navone in a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 win for the Argentinean sharing the messages he received from those likely placing bets on him.
"I would like to explain to everyone a reality that many people are unaware of, but unfortunately tennis professionals have to deal with it every week. There have already been several professional colleagues who have exposed this problem and the vast majority of us have already learned to deal with it; however, this time I join them," Sousa wrote.
Threats included hoping he snaps his ACL after losing 700 euros and accusing him of being a match fixer among the more horrifying content.
