The former coach of Simona Halep has called her an extraordinary person but also someone who can be her own worst enemy, especially on the tennis court.
Cahill spent a few years with Halep guiding her to the number one spot in the rankings as well as to several grand slams. Halep and Cahill don't work together anymore having parted ways in 2021 but they maintain a really close friendship which was evidenced by Cahill speaking up for Halep as soon as hew doping news became public.
He spoke about Halep recently admitting that he lived his best moments with her giving a rare glimpse into how the relationship worked:
"With Simona Halep I lived the best moments of my career and I had my greatest joy. She is an extraordinary person; sometimes, she was her own worst enemy. At that time, she had a lot of pressure on her back as her country, Romania, expected to see her as no. 1."
Halep hasn't been on a tennis court in a while waiting for the ruling of the doping agency. It should come fairly soon as Cahill shared earlier this year that the crucial hearing is set for March and the month is all but gone. One of these days we might get some breaking news regarding Halep and her status.
