“Let’s just say it could’ve been much worse”: Andreescu confirms torn ligaments after horrific end to Miami Open

Bianca Andreescu left the court on Tuesday in a wheelchair as her injury woes returned amid playing some of her best tennis since the US Open.

Andreescu released a statement on Wednesday evening to confirm that she has torn two ligaments but rehab is already underway and without a return date, she is aiming to be back on the court at some point.

“Results show that I’ve torn 2 ligaments in my left ankle. It’s tough to say exactly how long it will take but let’s just say it could’ve been much worse,” said Andreescu.

“I’m going to take it day by day and I am optimistic with the right work, rehab and preparation, I’ll be back on court soon. Rehab process has already started.”
