Stan Wawrinka moved past an inspired Koepfer while Fritz defeated Albot to reach the 3rd round of the
Roland Garros.
Stan Wawrinka continued his Roland Garros journey with an interesting match against Dominik Koepfer in which he played spectacular at times and times rather lacklustre. The first set was a strong one from both players as they served well for the majority of it. Koepfer played a bad game very late in the set which was enough for Stan to win it 6-3. The 2nd set started well for Stan as well as he took an early 3-0 lead which he maintained for the majority of the set never looking back. The end result was 6-2.
The 3rd set was when the German came back into the game. It was a copy of the 1st set but this time Stan was the one who played a bad game and Koepfer seized the chance and won the set 6-3. The final set was a complete demolition directed by Wawrinka who crushed Koepfer en route to a 6-1 final set victory.
Taylor Fritz moved to the Roland Garros round 3 after defeating Radu Albot in straight sets. The American has been looking rather good on clay despite his objection to the surface and today he had no issues getting rid of Radu Albot. Fritz didn't dominate the match but he did just enough to secure himself a straight-set victory.
He broke Albot at the perfect times to secure the sets and he served well enough to hold onto those leads. He hit 16 aces to go along with 39 winners today which was more than enough to overpower the defensive-minded Albot.
