The
Monte-Carlo Masters 2022 event presentation happened recently and director Zeljko Franulovic explained the vision for the event including the hope of bringing Federer to the Principality.
The 2022 Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters wil take place from April 9th till April 17th and the organizers have already planned out the 2022 edition of the event. The organizers underlined their hope of being able to stage an event with full crowds but underlined that the event will follow guidelines set out by professionals. It's widely expected that a proof of negative test of proof of vaccination will be required.
Even director Zeljko Franulovic also explained that the event should see an increase in prize money which should make every tennis player happy. Some of that will be boosted by fact that more fans will be in attendance than last year. Franulovic also expressed support for a fixed prize money initiative by the ATP president for Masters events.
He also underlined his hope of bringing
Roger Federer back to the event. Federer has not played the event in the past couple of years due to injuries and other stuff but Franulovic said:
“I’m certain that he will give everything he has to be able to stage another comeback on the tour, but no one knows where he’ll play. However, I think that on the clay he should opt for best-of-three events like Monte-Carlo and Rome rather than the French Open.”
Whether Federer makes it in time for the Masters remains to be seen but the fans would surely enjoy seeing him play.
