Russia defeated Spain 2-1 in the
Davis Cup Finals which sent both Russian and Serbia to the quarterfinals and Medvedev shared a story related to that.
It was a very exciting matchup between Spain and Russia with the match being extremely important for both of those teams. There is one more team that was closely following the match and it was Djokovic's Serbia who needed a certain result in order to move to the quarterfinals. They were able to get it as the 2-1 win for Russian guaranteed them a place in the quarterfinals.
Speaking after the match Medvedev revealed a story related to their match against Spain explaining that they were getting a lot of messages from Serbia over the course of the day. He said:
"It's funny because during the match we were already receiving some messages from some people from Serbia, let's say it like this. I'm not going to say who. Not only me, a lot of us saying 'let's go guys, we believe in you."
Medvedev continued:
"I feel like that's where it's funny in a good way this format. They had to be close to their TVs, to cheer us up. You know our goal was to win the match. It was not to kick Spain out or kick Serbia out. We just wanted to win the match and I'm happy we've done it."
