Nicolas Mahut is part of the French team for the ATP Cup which will be competing in Group A against Serbia, South Africa and Chile.
As a number 4 in the team, Nicolas Mahut will be playing mostly doubles for France. Gael Monfils and Benoit Paire are French no.1 and no.2 for the ATP Cup, while captained by Gilles Simon. Mahut had great success in the doubles when with his doubles partner, Pierre-Hugues Herbert, he did not lose in any of the last 11 matches of the 2019 Season.
Everything started in Paris where they won the title. Then, they were flawless also at the ATP Finals in London. And a few days later, they helped their team at the Davis Cup Finals. About ATP Cup, Mahut said:
"It is a brand-new competition. I am really excited that we are going to have a new captain that will be Gilles Simon. I am really excited to be on the court, with him on the bench. That will be a really good experience. We will start in Brisbane and hopefully, finish in Sydney. I want to see how this works. I am really excited about this competition."
When asked if he can sing the whole French national anthem, Mahut said: "Of course. When you grow up in France, this is something you learn at the beginning at school. Every French [person] knows the national anthem."
