Ben Shelton has been in the limelight with his maiden
Wimbledon approaching, not all tennis fans are happy with the extended coverage.
Shelton made his ATP debut in July 2022, and has been impressive as he reached the quarterfinals of this year's Australian Open. Viewed as one of the potential stars of the sport, the official Wimbledon YouTube channel recently a video that showed the American's first day on the tournament grounds.
However, not all fans have taken a liking to the perceived hype, with several voicing their frustration at the 20-year old's over-exposure.
"Kid scammed his way into a slam QF and suddenly is treated as if he's the most incredible hype player of all time; it's genuinely confusing," wrote one fan.
"They're doing way too much for him like the racquet is dead silent," said another.
"Ben Shelton is doing everything for the first f***ing time. What's next, oh he’s eaten breakfast from the players' lounge for the first time? He’s not a Kardashian, ffs," lamented another fan.
"Even the USA hype machine can't make this guy relevant, so the UK media is giving it a shot," tweeted another fan.
